Unfortunately, it is no longer possible to reserve a new via ferrata tour for the 2024 season, tours start again in June 2025.
Via ferrata (klettersteig) tours were invented almost 100 years ago for those who love dizzying heights. If you are attracted to rock climbing and want to get a glimpse of the alpine landscape from high above, this is the place for you! The tour follows metal cables, chains and ladders pre-installed on the rock face, with artificial steps providing a safe climbing experience for beginners as well.
Difficulty: via ferrata routes are graded from A to F. FunRafting’s via ferrata tours are rated C-D, so it’s a good idea to join the adventure with a muscular arm and a trained calf!
Date: via ferrata tours are organised every weekend during the season from June to October with a minimum of 6 participants, and on weekdays on request.

Hochkar Helikraft (1808 m)
This is a sporty via ferrata tour with a steep starting wall, a 350 m long crossing, a Nepalese bridge and two wire rope bridges. Thanks to its northern exposure and short ascents and descents, it is also an ideal via ferrata route in the hot summer months. It is not really suitable for small children due to the high wire ropes at the crossings.
The tour requires no more than average physical fitness.
As the well secured via ferrata route goes through high altitudes / over great depths, leave your fear of heights at home! The elevation gain is 300 metres.
The route’s difficulty is B-C, at some parts D, and it can be completed in 1.5-2 hours.
Pfaffenstein (1865 m)
A walk of about 2 hours through a wooded, wild and scenic path leads up to the via ferrata tour’s entry point. Along the entire route, you can enjoy beautiful views of the surrounding mountains, including the “pyramid” of Eizenerz, the iron ore mine.
The route’s difficulty is C-D, and it can be completed in 2 hours (the via ferrata route alone).
As Pfaffenstein is a 45-minute drive away from our base, the round trip takes approximately 6 hours.

Participation requirement: extreme sports insurance. No prior qualifications required.
Date: tours are organized every weekend during the season from June to October, they can also be arranged on weekdays on request. Keep in mind that via ferrata tours are highly dependent on weather!
Minimum number of participants: a minimum of 6 participants are required for the tour.
Difficulty: our via ferrata tours are of C-D difficulty, so a minimum of average physical fitness is required to complete them.
Meals: breakfast is provided for guests staying at the accommodation by our base, half board with dinner is available on request as well. Lunch is arranged individually – there are several restaurants in the area where you can have a nice meal.
Insurance: extreme sports insurance is a must to participate on the tour.

The three-star accommodation in Göstling an der Ybbs is located in a postcard-perfect, tranquil setting among the stunning mountains of the Ybbstal Alps, right on the banks of a stream.
The accommodation offers rooms with 1-2-3-4 beds, each room has a private bathroom.
Breakfast buffet is included in the price. Half-board is also available if you want to end the day with a dinner menu from the on-site restaurant, and you can also enjoy a cocktail in the bar.
The accommodation is surrounded by hiking and cycling trails in all directions, and there are plenty of relaxing activities in the area, from swimming to water parks.

Meeting: on the day of the tour at 8:30 / 13:00. If you stay at our base, we recommend arriving the day before, but you can arrive even earlier.

Conditions of participation:
› Extreme sports insurance is a must to participate.
› Children under 14 years of age must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
› If the participant is between 14 and 18 years of age, we can organise the tour with parental consent.
› Signing the participation form on site before the tour is also a declaration of physical fitness.
The participant acknowledges that he/she may be involved in an accident on our tours and that he/she participates at his/her own risk.
The participant is obliged to inform the guide of any medication, the consumption of substances affecting performance and concentration, or any illness that may temporarily reduce the state of consciousness or physical ability.
The guide has the right to exclude from the tour, for the entire duration of the tour, any person who, by disregarding the instructions given, endangers his/her own safety or that of others, endangers the equipment or does not comply with the guide’s instructions in this respect.
Validity of reservations:
The tour can only be reserved by request for offer. Individual participants and groups can book the tour by paying the deposit and completing the application form sent out at the time of the offer. The deposit must be paid within 1 week of the date of the offer. The rest is due on the spot.
Minimum number of participants:
We can organise the tour if a minimum of 6 people participate. If the minimum number of participants is not reached, another date can be chosen or the deposit paid will be refunded.
Guarantee:
If the tour is cancelled due to the fault of our company, the paid deposit will be refunded.
Cancellation policy (by the guest):
In the event of cancellation, the canceller will be liable to pay a forfeit to cover the costs incurred, which is a flat rate expressed as a percentage of the total participation fee, as follows:
› between the 60th and 31st day before the date of the tour, 20% of the participation fee
› 70% of the participation fee between the 30th and the 16th day
› 90% of the participation fee between the 15th and the 8th day
› 100% of the participation fee within 7 days, but the reserved place may be transferred to a third party, provided that the third party meets the requirements of participation in the tour.
In the case of rebooking to another date, if the rebooker or our company can find participants for the vacant places, the full amount paid may be transferred to the other date, but if there are no other applicants for the vacant places, the rebooking will be considered as a cancellation, subject to the above conditions.
It is strongly recommended that you take out travel cancellation insurance with an insurer to cover the costs incurred in the event of illness or accident.
Statement:
For the safety of participants, we reserve the right to change the tour plan.
We reserve the right to cancel a tour or programme for reasons beyond our control (e.g. extreme weather conditions or unforeseeable natural phenomena, technical difficulties). In this case, an alternative date may be chosen or the participation fee paid will be refunded.
